Home Monitoring Systems

It may seem that I am railing against home monitoring systems for elder care over and over again, but there are some serious concerns. What if the elderly person is out of range of the camera? Even a multitude of cameras will have blind spots. And the caregiver who is responsible will not be able to stare at the screen every minute. Presumably that is why they have a camera monitor to begin with. If they could be present full-time, they would be.

Besides perhaps not being able to immediately see an emergency, there is also the problem of the delay in assistance due to a person not being on site.

So consider this a warning against remote monitoring systems.
