Protesters Take Over Bank of America Branch in DC

Posted on March 8, 2011

Firedog lake reports that a Washington, DC branch of Bank of America was taken over by protesters yesterday. The group National People’s Action seized control of the bank branch and submitted a bill to the bank for unpaid taxes as part of their Make Wall Street Pay campaign.

Major U.S. Banks received tax refunds in the amount of $13 billion dollars, which protesters say could be used to keep teachers employed instead of giving banks more profits.

Bank of America, in particular, is known to funnel money to tax-free havens in the Cayman Islands and elsewhere.
