Mortgage Rescue Fraud Scheme’s New Angle

In southern California, two men were arraigned for taking money from desperate homeowners by falsely representing themselves as bank representatives and promising to pay off the home loan in full. The money was never paid to the bank, and the homes were foreclosed on.

“Prosecutors say Stephen Andrew Easterly, 47, and Emanuel Percival, 36, defrauded at least 25 people with their Fontana business and affected more than $17 million in home loans.”
